Restaurant Doubek

Kochgasse 13, 1080
The restaurant Doubek, which opened in October, has three spacious floors, covering more than 300 square meters, and aims to be the new go-to place in the capital for fine dining. Chef Doubek, famous for his innovative creations, offers a 20-course tasting menu showcasing the best of land and sea. The dishes highlight scallops, lobster, and eel alongside thoughtfully sourced offal, meat, and veggie dishes. Adding to its uniqueness, all the cooking happens right over an open flame in a fire kitchen, offering an unforgettable and flavorful experience.

X.O Grill 1070

Neubaugasse 72, 1070
Vienna’s juiciest burgers and sandwiches can now be found at the new 2nd location of the legendary XO Grill in the hip 7th district. Already renowned for superb quality meats, this fresh spot offers a famous smash burger, a tender pastrami sandwich with melted cheese, a cheesy steak, hand-cut dirty fries, … go ahead, try them all and pair them with your choice of natural wines offered! The cozy yet relaxed space at XO Grill has made it a hot favorite in the neighborhood, attracting both locals and those exploring the area.

We ❤️ Exhibition at Heidi Horten Collection

Hanuschgasse 3, 1010
The art exhibition at the Heidi Horten Collection gallery showcases artworks grouped into three categories. It explores Expressionism, especially the German style, and features art from the 1960s and 1970s, highlighting U.S., Italian, and German pieces. There’s also a collection of paintings and sculptures that blur the line between real and abstract.

But what makes it really cool is that visitors play a big role in the exhibition. You can choose about twenty artworks from the collection, either when you visit the museum or through social media. These selected pieces will have a permanent spot in a special area of the museum.

If Dogs Run Free

Gumpendorfer Straße 10-12, 1060
This iconic bar made a grand comeback this fall following its renovation. The reopening introduces a new addition — a cozy shop corner offering a variety of items like wines, olive oil, vermouth, coffee cups, and more. Excitingly, there’s a ceiling installation in the works for 2024.

Beyond being a bar, it’s now evolving into a hub where you can explore fresh ideas in art and design, breaking away from the conventional gallery setting. It’s not just a place to enjoy drinks; it’s a space where innovation meets ambiance.

House of Strauss Museum

Döblinger Hauptstraße 76, 1190
The House of Strauss has opened a new museum that is all about the Waltz King and their dynasty, located right in the old Casino Zögernitz. Back in the day, the Waltz King himself, Johann Strauss, played right there in the Strauss Hall and even conducted at the 1873 Vienna World’s Fair. Now, this place is like the headquarters for all things Strauss, including research.

And get this — there’s a star chef Stefan Glantschnig doing his thing in the Casino Kulinarium, cooking up some very good Viennese cuisine. It’s a double treat, experiencing both the rich history of Strauss and great food in one place. Imagine the legacy of Strauss all around you — it’s a vibe!

Ghörig Street Food

Hernalser Gürtel 39, 1170
Street food made its mark this autumn with Ghörig, offering traditional Austrian comfort dishes from the Vorarlberg region, ranging from Käsespätzle to Zack Zack and their specialty Ghörig balls, warming bodies on chilly days. The Käsespätzle, in particular, was the tastiest we have ever tried in Vienna. It seems the guys behind it really know what they’re doing. Perfect for a quick walk-in, takeaway, or home delivery.
