Burggasse 21 is a dynamic and experimental art space, founded by Maxim Smirnov and Elena Mildner in 2006. the gallery focuses on the creative process and social communication between artists, audiences, galleries, museums, universities, and other institutions. It serves as a bridge between different sectors of the art world, from Dorotheum Wien, and Museumsquartier to Impuls Tanz, RED BULL, and more.

Over the past 15 years, Burggasse 21 has presented over 500 international and Austrian artists, including Erwin Wurm, Ona B., and Roland Kodritsch. With 340m2 of open exhibition space and a prime location in the center of Vienna, Burggasse 21 has become a hub for young artists and designers.

If you’re a photography enthusiast visiting Vienna, then WestLicht is a must-visit venue for exploring the diversity of photographic media. Founded in 2001, WestLicht has quickly become a central hub for the presentation and discussion of photography in Austria.

The gallery features a permanent exhibition showcasing a wide range of photographic equipment and milestones from all eras of camera technology. In addition, the changing presentations offer visitors a glimpse into the historical and current positions in photographic image culture, including monographic exhibitions of iconic photographers such as Alexander Rodchenko, Edward Steichen, and Vivian Maier.
